Personalized Experience — Getting started!

As I mentioned through one of my earlier articles, “Top 5 CX Trends; “PERSONAZLIED EXPERIENCE” is gonna be a key area that most of the products and services will focus to optimize their stake-holder’s user-experiences. It is no surprise, that Android-12 features “Material You” as their strong stand-point to address personalization and customization on it’s roots. The automated-theming-engine is powering at the top layer, is clearly an indicator that Google’s approach towards a new design language shows their need for adapting a mindset change to support multitude of gadgets and to cater various experiences in a seamless way.

Though it doesn’t look like a complete design overhaul, they’ve understood the need for a mindset-change to talk a new design language. MATERIAL DESIGN has been ruling the game for more than 7 years since it’s release on 2014. However, the standards set by the design system had it’s own rigid rules for the nativity and there’s certainly a need for a more customized layer to it. “Material You” is adding that topping by addressing the base layer, and is certainly a big leap. No wonder Google has coined this as a bigger move after their 2014 design movement.

“The biggest design change in Android’s history,” — Sameer Samat, VP of product management, Android and Google Play.

The changes on the SPACING by redesigning their own system spaces, and the adaptability changes to the information density, and the bigger — bolder designs are clearly indicators of catch-up mode in a few areas.

What does this mindset change conveys to the world of apps, and other ecosystems out there?

We could see more personalized apps from developers across the globe catering more cases and needs without breaking the native design elements. Most importantly, the word of apps will move towards a more hybrid experience (not hybrid apps, but just making the experience hybrid). Cuz, experiences differ with devices and gadgets, this is surely an area to improvise across the board.

Just like games that looks the same in different OS and gadgets; Productivity, Utility, Business, Social Media, Ecommerce, Health, Finance, and other sectors also should offer a seamless experience in the app segment. This is possible and by building a HYBRID-NATURE in every single app, the world of apps will ensure users a better hand-off. This has to come without setting the boundary of whether it is a Material design based platform, or a human-interface based platform.

The focus has to be on USER EXPERIENCE and eventually the metaphor of how an app looks, works and feels will be the same, as per the user needs.
